Which? customers satisfaction survey shows need to break away from big energy - 11 January 2012, London

Consumers are keen to generate their own electricity from solar PV but FIT must be equal across board to ensure free solar systems remain available

Responding to the poor ratings of the big six energy companies in a Which? customer satisfaction survey published today, Daniel Green, CEO of leading solar company, HomeSun, said:

“It is clear that the British public wants independence from Big Energy and ever rising bills. Everyone should be able to produce their own free energy with solar and that includes lower-income private homeowners who don’t have the spare £10,000 to buy a system.

“We look forward to a fair Feed-in Tariff from Government where everyone receives the same. The proposal to have one tariff for wealthy homeowners who can afford to buy solar and a lower one for ordinary homeowners who get their systems through a free solar provider is unfair.”

Mr Alan Cotton from the Isle of Wight said: “I have been saving up to fifty per cent off my yearly electricity bill with a free solar system from HomeSun and the savings have made a real difference. I wouldn’t have been able to buy a solar PV system so was over the moon that free solar was available to me. A two-tier FIT would penalise people like me and companies like HomeSun.”

About HomeSun

HomeSun, the solar specialist, has been making it easy for thousands of homeowners to generate their own energy with Free Solar and SolarShare, with free maintenance for 25 years.

HomeSun has a big vision that is almost breathtakingly simple: we want to revolutionize the way that people power their homes by making domestic renewable energy commonplace, easy and affordable, starting with Solar PV. At HomeSun, we would like to think that homes that are not self-sufficient in some way will be the odd ones out, not the other way round. In the not too distant future, most homes could be able to produce some of their own energy in some way - energy that is clean, that saves money, improves the homes' value and cuts carbon emissions.
