Legal Challenge Approved

20th December set for Judicial Review of coalition government’s proposals to cut the feed in tariff.

Today, HomeSun the leading solar company along with Friends of the Earth and Solarcentury has won its application for a Judicial Review of the coalition Government’s proposals to cut the Feed-in Tariff from the 12th December.

The date for the hearing is on Tuesday 20th December, which is three days before the FIT consultation ends. HomeSun’s legal challenge focuses on the 12th December ‘reference’ date, when the proposed new FIT would come into play, being two weeks before the FIT review consultation period ends on 23rd December.

HomeSun CEO, Daniel Green, said:

“We are delighted with this decision. Solar has been the most popular energy efficiency and microgeneration measure that this country has ever seen. Additionally it is providing around £280 million in tax and PAYE income for the treasury as well as providing work for over 30,000 people many of whom are now waiting to hear their fate.

“HomeSun believes that having an ‘effective date’ in the middle of a consultation is not only unlawful but it could set a dangerous precedent for all future government consultations.“
