Joe from Bodmin

Joe Spriggs is better known as the Sunshine Superman in his local community of Bodmin and he’s an avid guitarist for his family band. But Joe is also an overjoyed HomeSun customer who still can’t quite believe is has free solar with “no catch”

‘I read and read and read the contract. I couldn’t find the hole. It is amazing – to be honest I feel a bit evangelical about the whole thing, and I never feel like that!’

The whole thing happened through a mailing from uSwitch. An avid energy watcher, he spotted that his roof was eligible for a free solar panel installation, and that he had nothing to lose. He clicked on the HomeSun webpage, put his details in and soon received a reply saying things looked good for him.

After having his free survey, within two weeks he signed his contract and booked his install date. A day before the big day, scaffolders came around to set-up for the installation team. In one day Spriggs had his solar panels up and running, “generating electricity, saving the planet, stopping global warming, preventing climate change and saving a few quid on his bill”.

Pleased with his new install, Joe felt obliged to publish a nice riddle for his local Parish magazine entitled – ‘What’s Green and Saves Me Lots of Money!’

Below are the readings of his electricity consumption in KWH, for the month of April for the last five years (a month after his install):

April 2007: 801 KWH

April 2008: 653 KWH

April 2009: 530 KWH

April 2010: 460 KWH

April 2011 (now with solar panels fitted): 284 KWH
