Pauline from Welwyn
Pauline Bray is a 74 year old pensioner and lives on her own in a two bedroomed bungalow in Welwyn Garden City. Mrs Bray had her solar panels installed by Carillion Energy Services as a result of Welwyn and Hatfield Council’s Clean Energy Programme.
This isn't a HomeSun home as such - but the installation was undertaken by our exclusive installation partner, Carillion Energy Services, and we think it is a great example of how more and more people are getting hold of solar and loving it.
As an ex Housing Association Scheme Manager (warden) and as a resident herself, Pauline was all too aware of spiralling energy costs and how difficult they can be to manage on a pension. So she was very pleased to get a Free Solar offer from the Council.
After a survey from Carillion, the installation took place at the end of February - 12 panels and 2.6kWp capacity.
Initially Mrs Bray was a bit sceptical about the level of savings she expected to make. But she has been absolutely delighted with the results so far. To check how much difference the panels made to her yearly bills she has elected to behave in exactly the same way as normal for year one so as not to distort the figures.
The results so far have been even better than expected, saving her £26.41 on her Feb to May bill and £26 between May and August. During the course of the year Mrs Bray expects to make actual savings in excess of £100. And she’s looking forward to next year when she hopes to make further savings by using more of the electricity that her panels are generating during the day time.
