21p is going to kill the domestic solar business in the UK for all but the wealthy few in the south-west who have £10k to spend. The key criticism of the FIT scheme has been that it is socially regressive – the Free Solar model for both social and private housing has been the strong counterargument to challenge this. Free solar will disappear under the proposed changes, proving these naysayers right. In addition most of the companies that have emerged as a result of the introduction of FITs will disappear – along with the new green jobs that the government was so keen to support.
